“What is copywriting anyways?” I hear this pretty often when I introduce myself to people.
According to the American Writer’s & Artists Institute (AWAI),
Copywriting is the process of writing persuasive marketing and promotional materials that motivate people to take some form of action, such as make a purchase, click on a link, donate to a cause, or schedule a consultation.
Or in regular speak: all the written components used for marketing purposes.
This can be on your website, social media, blog posts, brochures, posters, ads, emails, etc. Your mission statement and value propositions should also be considered as copywriter territory.

And if you’re still wondering, “Okay but why do I really need a copywriter?”, here’s a poem definition of copywriting and its part in the brand-customer relationship.
